Espino’s scholars reunited
SOME 440 provincial government scholars from the nine campus components of the Pangasinan State University (PSU) joined in
the province-wide
youth camp dubbed Doypua’y Kalangweran last April 30 to May 1
at the Lingayen beachfront in line with the Pista’y Dayat celebration.
The PSU campuses are those in Asingan, Bayambang, San Carlos, Lingayen, Sta. Maria, Urdaneta, Binmaley, Alaminos, and Infanta.
This youth development program is aimed at increasing environmental consciousness and appreciation of the province’s history and cultural heritage for
social awareness.
Atty. Verna Nava-Perez, event chairperson and Sangguniang Panlalawigan secretary, said that Doypua’y Kalangweran is intended to encourage comradeship
and socialization among the campers as well as to expose
them
to outdoor life.
More than that, they are immersed in instructive lectures. Lectures on environmental conservation and protection are included in the youth camp as a means of re-awakening the environmental awareness among the participants and also to rekindle the significant roles they play as members of the society.
The Pag-asa Youth Association (PYA) – a duly constituted barangay based organization of the out-of-school youth, and the children of provincial employees are also in attendance.
Provincial Administrator Rafael Howard F. Baraan gave an inspiring message as he emphatically stated, “You, our young kids are number one in our hearts.”
