Ilocos Sur releases emergency directories, first aid booklets

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Norte - Emergency directories and first aid booklets were given to residents as quick guides during disasters.

The booklets contain contact number of government offices and instructional materials on what to do when accidents or disasters strike, said Michael Chan, the provincial disaster risk reduction management council chief.

The emergency guides were distributed as part of the disaster consciousness month in July.

The provincial government marked the event by a display of rescue equipment at the capitol grounds, film showing of

Project DINA and PDRRMC rescue operations, free monitoring of blood pressure, keeping of first aid station, and opening of registration booth for disaster volunteers.

A lecture on water conservation techniques, food safety, water safety, nutrition and emergency will be done at the capitol on July 31 to end the month-long celebration.

Governor Ryan Luis Singson hopes that the activities will help prepare the residents for any disaster. (Imelda Rivero/MCA/ICR/PIA-1 Ilocos Sur)
