Pamana FMR project in Kalinga inaugurated

PINUKPUK, Kalinga - The P20 million farm-to-market road funded by the Office of the Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process (OPAPP) through the Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan or PAMANA was recently inaugurated.

Director Marilou Ibanez of OPAPP led national and local officials for the inauguration of the about three kilometer Allaguia farm-to-market road up to its boundary with Asibanglan.

In her message, she told beneficiaries that government did not fail in its commitment to address the root causes of conflicts of which one among the myriad reasons is poverty due to the absence of road access. She also committed to work it out with OPAPP central office the continuation of the remaining 2.8 km. road opening to reach Asibanglan.

Gov. Jocel Baac expressed the province’s gratitude to OPAPP for its relentless effort in pushing the peace process work genuinely in troubled areas. He said these projects serve as bridges of understanding among opposing parties.

Francisco Gamatero of the Department of Interior and Local Government provincial office here bared that  the province has a total of P154 million proposals for 2014 for various projects particularly infrastructure.
For the Cordillera Administrative Region, PAMANA is largely the implementation of the GPH-CBA-CPLA Memorandum of Agreement (“Closure Agreement”) signed last July 4, 2011. The PAMANA beneficiary areas in CAR include 57 barangays in 23 municipalities in the six provinces. (Peter Balocnit/JDP/PAB-PIA CAR,Kalinga)
